I was caught between laughing and crying while watching this video. Let's start with the RAINDROP theme...how seriously sweet can we get...and how utterly clueless at the same time.
ReplyDelete'Raindrops are falling on my head' should be Gulen's theme song. For sure the fount of wisdom has yet to fall on him, and the fountain of youth evades him in his seventies.
Seeing the video reminds me that when cultures, religions stay stagnant, and then one day the dim light bulb goes on and they realize they haven't kept up with the times, wham...now's the time to show 'em all what we got! And boy, Turkey man, you got nothing but a bunch of turkeys. This is so sad that a man like gobble gobble Gulen expects he'll rule the world someday...one guesses that he thinks his red cocky feathers will reign supreme. Yet the video reveals a lack of art and sophistication thus proving just how primitive the culture remains.
It reminds me of an old joke about turkeys.."A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store, but couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked the stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy answered, "No ma'am, they're dead."
So too, how does one puffed up turkey of 70 who never finished 5th grade and worse, has the misfortune of being born into a much bigger, but surely dead religion, get such an ego to think he could dance, cluck, click and wax eloquently into the 21st C?
Obviously an all male dominant religion otherwise known as the pestilence of patriarchy, does not make great art, music, dance, song..unchain your women and give up the 'me tarzan, you jane' nonsense, and make real ART!! Then and only then will we ALL be able to beat our swords into plowshares.
The few pieces of art shown could have been done by one of my 5 year old grandkids. The music is same old same old, and just like the art, it lacks the dynamism of the western world. We are treated like village idiots to this kindergardenish display of NON art NON poems, NON folk dancing and Gulen thinks he has treated us to filet mignon and a class of Shiraz...NOT! Seeing africans with bones in their noses hopping around would have made a bigger impression on me...at least they'd be honest.
This is just more evidence that if you have never finished the 5th grade, don't be expecting to tell your much older and wiser brothers and sisters of the west how to 'catch up with you'. It could never be called 'catching up' for the entire thing is so backward, so retro, so primitive. Hell, even some belly dancing would have been better than these displays of juvenile junk. And the childish graphics of the video...what can I say..your guys need many art lessons on what constitutes a wow factor.
The one teensy weensy sign of hope were the turk teen boys who exhibited a HINT of break dancing..albeit, with some stiffness. They would do well to take some lessons from their next door neighbors, the Greeks...those men know how to shake their booty and aren't afraid of being men..and allow their women to be women, not cloistered,voiceless,sexless body bagged females.
To breakdance you require much stamina and talent and able to flex your body, go with the flow and be open to the life giving quality of a god that creates and loves..the Greeks have that in spades...but all of which islam forbades...turkish male emotional IQ's must achieve higher scores than 1.5 on a 10 point scale. The arrested emotional stage of these people/males are holding them back bigtime. I've a flash---grow up bigboys!
